Consumer price index

Source

The same category from more than one publisher. The national statistics office is the record; the IMF's series are its own compilation and can differ in definition, coverage and vintage.

Series family

Source presentations, reference bases and classifications remain separate. The 2000 compendium is an official source-linked Managua history; its separate native 1999-base basket begins in 2001. Detailed 2006-basket weights remain with the separately published BCN detail family. Year-to-date rates and contributions are retained in the source archive, not labelled YoY.

Geography

Historical Managua data are city data, not national data. Detailed 2006 Managua/rest weights are national basket allocations, not separate 100-percent baskets.

Frequency

Annual indices are published means. December-to-December annual inflation and changes in annual averages have separate source families. Weight dates retain the source-table scope stated in their notes, not an inferred adoption date.

INIDE and BCN publish separate source presentations, geographic areas and reference bases. Their overlapping levels and rates can differ and remain separate; Living Data does not splice them. BCN's historical tables use 1994=100 for Managua through 2000 and 1999=100 from 2001; the compendium's 2000 series is an official source-linked 1999-base presentation. Annual index values are published annual averages. Annual inflation explicitly distinguishes December-to-December changes from changes in annual averages. Historical hyperinflation rates, source rounding and blank cells are retained. Year-to-date rates and contributions are archived but are not presented as year-over-year inflation. The linked 2001–2009 annex is not assigned the later native basket. Detailed 2006-basket weights are published national shares allocated to each geography: Managua and rest-of-country weights must not be mistaken for separate 100-percent baskets. The monthly statistical bulletin is a separate rounded thirteen-month presentation; the workbook retains its own published precision and history. Direct source-cell and independent BIFF review confirm published Rest-of-country index/rate disagreements in June and July 2012 and July 2014, and the archived core-services November 2017 annual rate 0.07521577590139827 percent despite its own index implying about 4.929 percent. The source cell is an unscaled hard-coded number; neither multiplying it by 100 nor replacing it by the index ratio is justified. The 2005 yearbook also prints the malformed national December clothing index 119..66, which remains missing. Source values, source editions and geography identities are preserved. Applicable series carry specific reader cautions. These manually recorded source exceptions do not settle automatic QA findings or waive future dates.
