Statbel's open-data catalogue publishes three consumer-price datasets under CC BY 4.0, each as a pipe-delimited text file inside a ZIP archive:
* `CPI All base years: the official consumer price index since 1920 in every reference base Statbel maintains (1914=100 through 2025=100), the health index since 1994, the smoothed health index and the indices without energy or petroleum products since 2013, and the published annual CPI inflation rate; * CPI All groups: the current 2025=100 index by ECOICOP version 2 product group from 2006, with published annual inflation and annual basket weights; * HVD - HICP`: the current ECOICOP version 2 harmonised index (and its constant-tax variant), in separate 2015 and 2025 reference bases from 1996. Native BeStat annual rates and the monthly release accompany this file in one complete snapshot. Original v1 BeStat history completes the retired HVD family through December 2025 without reclassifying or splicing it.
Each published reference base is its own family. Statbel derives the older base presentations from one chain-linked index, but they are published and legally referenced separately, so none is rebased or merged here. The current product-group tree belongs to the 2025=100 family; its all-items row duplicates the headline 2025=100 series exactly and is therefore not emitted twice. The ECOICOP version 1 HICP family is kept apart from the ECOICOP version 2 CPI tree because the two classifications do not share code meanings.
Statbel publishes official English labels beside French and Dutch. English is the public label; the French and Dutch originals are kept in metadata. A few source codes carry no label in any language and are shown by code. Where a source class repeats its only child with identical labels in all three languages, the child keeps its own series identity but is marked as a tree alias of its parent so the navigation does not show the same concept twice.
Published rates always win. Monthly rates absent from the source exports are derived within one family; the release's published headline monthly rate is retained, with explicit mixed-period provenance for its calculated history.
