The same category from more than one publisher. The national statistics office is the record; the IMF's series are its own compilation and can differ in definition, coverage and vintage.
CAPMAS publishes five separate index families; no series is spliced across rebasing boundaries. Historical API series contain missing months and some source-published rates above 1,000% or inconsistent with index ratios. These values are retained unchanged and require caution.
Category detail is published for Total Egypt. Urban, rural, republic-area, and governorate cuts publish headline values.
Historical CAPMAS API series contain missing months and published rates that sometimes disagree with their index ratios. Some rate entries exceed 1,000%. These source-published values are retained unchanged and require caution; separate reference bases are not spliced. | CAPMAS's own API serves these values; the connector passes each IndicatorFilter cell through unchanged. All 840 stored 2018-base category index, month-on-month and year-on-year cells from October 2020 to January 2021 equal the archived responses for indicators 2215, 2326 and 2305 exactly, and the snapshots of 2026-09-17, 2026-10-11 and 2026-10-23 are identical for these cells. In those responses, 43 of the 70 categories have November-December 2020 index levels that disagree by more than one point with CAPMAS's own published monthly rate. The rate stays near zero while the level jumps, and every one of the 43 returns to within 3% of its own October level in January 2021. For example, F3539 reads 105.7, 92.1, 92.4, 105.5 against a published November rate of -0.0287%. Several November levels equal a different category's October level exactly: F3548 shows F3546's 207.5, F3551 shows F3549's 149.7, and F3514 shows 135.2 beside F3513's 135.3. That pattern is consistent with levels loaded against the wrong categories, but the full mapping is not established. In the same two months CAPMAS also serves unrounded rates for most categories (63 and 59 monthly, 68 and 68 annual, against one decimal everywhere else) and an unrounded General index. This entry settles only the level-based base_break and outlier_value rows. These series' rate_vs_index rows stay open, because each row summarises every disagreeing month, and most also cover separate, unreviewed June 2020 and December 2024-January 2025 disagreements. F3476, whose levels also move sharply here but agree with its published rates, is deliberately not included. Values are retained as published; nothing is corrected. | ||||||

| The 1995/96, 1999/2000 and January 2007-base CAPMAS rate series carry source defects that the connector metadata already warns about. They were reviewed cell by cell on 2026-10-26, and every disagreeing cell equals the 2026-10-23 archive. 557 of the 616 disagreeing cells are spreadsheet date serials, 46024-46302. They are 2026 dates, which shows a decimal rate was auto-converted to a date when the history was keyed. In 510 of them, reading the serial as month.day reproduces the index-implied rate within 0.15; for example 46059 (6 February 2026) stands for 2.6 against an implied 2.588. None of the 557 exists in the earlier snapshots: 517 are in indicators first archived on 2026-10-23, and 40 were added that day to 2007 indicators already archived. Other shapes: in 1995 the August 2001 index repeats August 2000 exactly, and some rate cells carry index levels (121.6, 133.3, 135.1); monthly and annual rates are transposed in a few months, and one 1999 monthly rate has its sign reversed; 1999 category indexes are flat in September and November 2004 while the monthly rate moves; 2007 category levels jump and return in September-November 2008; and 2007 monthly rates in May and June 2010 have the decimal point dropped. Values are retained unchanged. Left open: 1995 R117, R334, R3980 and R3982 MOM (August-September 2001), 1999 N4051_YOY (March 2005), and 2007 F3538, N3444, R3980 and R3982 MOM (2008). | ||||||

| CAPMAS's January 2010-base aggregate and area series contain isolated keying errors. All disagreeing cells equal the 2026-10-23 archive of indicators 1796, 2088, 1798, 2078, 1799 and 2079. In seven monthly cells the decimal point was dropped, so the published rate is ten times the index change. Examples: Urban January 2011 10.0 against 1.003, R3982 May 2017 14.0 against 1.415 and R3980 October 2010 14.0 against 1.367. December 2012 repeats November 2012's level, monthly and annual figures in all 11 aggregate and area series, so the implied monthly change is exactly 0. October 2012 is absent, and QA makes no comparison across that gap. Rural January 2011 is served as 11.2 for 111.2, which reads -89.8% and then +893.8%. The February 2017 Urban and Total rows are wrong in all three columns. Urban's level is 289.8 where March's monthly rate and February 2018's annual rate both imply about 226.0; Total's is 294.5. The monthly 4.1 repeats or nearly repeats January, and the annual 40.5 and 41.7 stand far above the neighbouring 28.1-32.5. A few single levels (November 2013, February 2016) disagree with both rates into and out of them. Values are retained as published. Left open: N3443_YOY (December 2011 annual 2.6 against 9.5), R12251_MOM (April 2016) and R12251_YOY (March 2016 and March 2017). | ||||||

| Every month in which these 2018/19-base rate series disagree with their own index by more than one point was checked on 2026-10-26. Every disagreeing rate cell and both index cells it is computed from equal the 2026-10-23 archived IndicatorFilter responses for indicators 2215, 2326, 2305, 2156, 2268 and 2264. Each filter id carries the same Arabic label in the index, monthly and annual indicators, and the QA join is on calendar months, so a missing month yields no comparison rather than a two-month rate. The disagreements fall into reviewed source patterns. (1) June 2020: CAPMAS serves the monthly and annual rates transposed for 63 of 70 categories and Rural Egypt. The published annual figure equals the index's monthly change, for example F3513 shows a monthly 20.9 and an annual 0.0 while its index is flat. F210 and Urban Egypt carry the annual figure in both columns. (2) November-December 2020 levels, already registered as egy-capmas-2020-nov-dec-category-levels. They drive the November 2020 and January 2021 monthly flags and the November-December 2021 annual flags. (3) Single index levels, or two-month runs, mainly December 2024 in 58 categories, contradict both published rates into and out of them. The level after the error rejoins the published monthly chain. For example, F12249 reads 271.1, 304.6, 280.6 for November 2024 to January 2025 against published monthly rates of 2.8 and 0.7: 271.1 x 1.028 x 1.007 = 280.6 exactly. Its December 2025 annual 19.0 also implies a December 2024 level of 278.7, not 304.6. The same one-level shape appears in a few other months from 2024 to 2026. (4) Monthly rates exchanged between two categories in one month: F3486 and F3487 in May 2025, and F3514 and F3515 in February 2024. (5) One annual rate (F210, September 2025) disagrees while the monthly rates into and out of both index levels it uses agree. The source serves these values and the connector reproduces them unchanged, so nothing is corrected. Excluded and left open because at least one month remains unexplained: F3469_YOY, F3475_MOM, F3475_YOY, F3513_MOM, F3514_MOM, F3514_YOY, F3537_YOY and F849_YOY. | ||||||
| Egypt, Arab Republic of | CAPMAS | 2022-05-01, 2022-06-01, 2022-07-01, 2024-03-01 | confirmed | EGY.CPI_CAPMAS2018_G53_MOM.M, EGY.CPI_CAPMAS2018_G67_MOM.M, EGY.CPI_CAPMAS2018_G117_MOM.M +83 more | 2026-10-26 | Published rate disagrees with its index |
| CAPMAS's governorate rate indicators 8982 (monthly) and 2271 (annual) are transposed for November-December 2020 and for every month from November 2021 to July 2022. In all 44 governorates the published monthly figure equals the annual change of the governorate index (indicators 8979 and 2161) to within rounding, and the published annual figure equals its monthly change. G4100 and G4105 are not flagged in November 2020 only because their two rates nearly coincide. Outside those months the same indicators agree with the index, so the connector's indicator mapping is right and the transposition is in the served cells. All disagreeing cells equal the 2026-10-23 archive. The other disagreements in these series are single index levels that both published rates contradict: G4060, G4075, G4090 and G53 in March 2024; G4073 in April 2024; G4066, G4075 and G4076 in August 2024; G334 in October 2024; G4098 and G4099 in December 2024; and G4082 in September 2025. They include G4090's March 2024 index cell, served as 32024.0, which makes the monthly rates read +15,222% and -99.3%. Also included: G4084's November 2019 monthly 1.0 against an index fall of 1.05%, and annual rates in G4082 (January 2021), G4087 (October 2024) and G4106 (May 2026) that disagree while both levels are corroborated by the monthly rates. Nothing is corrected. G4062_YOY and G4082_YOY are excluded: their 2025-06 and 2025-05 annual cells are unexplained. | ||||||
